VICTIM:                                           Four Month Old Infant

SUMMARY:            

On June 14, 2014, at approximately 10:19 a.m., the Barstow Police Department Dispatch Center received a call from Barstow Community Hospital Emergency Department personnel reporting a four month old infant was brought to the hospital and was not breathing and unresponsive. The infant was transported to Barstow Community Hospital from the Marine Corps Logistics Base housing area by ambulance. The infant was later pronounced deceased at Barstow Community Hospital.

The infant’s parents followed the ambulance to Barstow Community Hospital and were present when officers arrived. Barstow Police Officers interviewed both parents at the hospital, as well as additional persons that had been at the residence during the prior evening. Officers also went to the residence and processed the location for evidence.

On June 18, 2014, an autopsy was performed at the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office in San Bernardino, CA. The incident is still under investigation and at this time no foul play is expected. The actual cause of death is also still under investigation by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office and is pending additional tests.
