SUMMARY:

On Saturday, July 19, 2014 at approximately 12:23 a.m., Detectives from the Barstow Police Department Street Enforcement Team (SET) received an anonymous tip regarding a female, Angela Thomas, who was being sought by police for an outstanding arrest warrant. The anonymous caller reported that Thomas was at a residence in the 600 Block of Armory Road and was in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine that she was actively selling. SET Detectives made contact at the residence and were told that Thomas left the residence minutes before their arrival. Detectives conducted a consent search of the residence, but Thomas was not located inside the residence. Patrol officers, including a K-9 Team, were called to the location to assist the SET Detectives during the search of the residence.

While searching the backyard area of the location, Thomas was located hiding inside a trash container. Thomas became combative with officers, but was eventually subdued and handcuffed. While handcuffing Thomas, officers noticed that Thomas was grasping a plastic bag in her left hand. When the officers retrieved the bag and looked inside they realized that the bag contained a large amount of suspected methamphetamine. Thomas was placed under arrest for the listed charges and transported to the Barstow Police Department. Once at the police department, a search of Thomas’ person and belongings was conducted and evidence located that was consistent with the sales of illegal drugs. Further investigation showed that Thomas was out of custody on bail for sales of illegal drugs. Thomas was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for the listed charges.

The Barstow Police Department's Street Enforcement Team (SET) frequently investigates narcotic and gang activity and encourages citizens to report such incidents to SET by contacting Detective Corporal J. Gilmore or Detective P. D’Andrea at (760) 255-5160. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the We-Tip Hotline at 800-782-7463 or leave information on the We-Tip website at www.wetip.com.
