DATE OF CRIME: 10/19/2014
SUSPECT: MORA, Ben (DOB: 11-21-1984)
VICTIM(S): The People of the State of California
CASE AGENT(S): Sergeant Jeremy Bledsoe (#S-4)
On Sunday, October 19, 2014, at approximately 7:12 p.m., Sergeant Jeremy Bledsoe observed a subject riding a bicycle on the 900 block of East Main Street in violation of CVC 21201(d)(1) – Headlamp Required During Darkness. Sergeant Bledsoe conducted a traffic enforcement stop of the subject in the parking lot of A2Z Lock and Security, located at 915 East Main Street.
During the contact of the bicyclist, who was identified as Ben Mora, the officer learned that Mora had several items of illegal drug paraphernalia on his person. A records check of Mora revealed that he had two outstanding arrest warrants.
Mora was arrested for the warrants and possession of the drug paraphernalia items. During a search of Mora’s wallet Sergeant Bledsoe located several items of identification, several bank cards, a state benefits card and check in the name of Gloria Hentrell. A records check revealed that the items had been reported lost or stolen and unauthorized activity had been conducted on the bank cards.
Sergeant Bledsoe searched the back-pack Mora was wearing and located a Military M115A2 Ground Burst Projectile Simulator. The area was cordoned off and the Fort Irwin 759th Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was notified and later arrived to collect the simulator for disposal.
Mora was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Jail in Barstow for PC 18715 (a)(1) and (a)(5) - Possession of a Destructive Device on a Public Street or in area Passed by Human Beings and PC 496(a) – Receiving Stolen Property.
