SUSPECT:                           VESTERBY, Zachariah (DOB 5/22/1990) Barstow Resident

 

VICTIM:                                 Female Adult – Barstow Resident (67 years old)

SUMMARY: 

 

On November 16, 2014 at approximately 10:21 p.m., Barstow Police Officers responded to the call of a shooting and carjacking on the 300 block of Forest Avenue in Barstow, CA.

 

The Barstow Police Department Detective Division has been actively working the carjacking and shooting case since it occurred.

 

Through their continued investigation, Detectives were able to identify Zacheriah Vesterby as the suspect in the carjacking and shooting that occurred on November 16, 2014.

 

On Saturday, November 22, 2014, Zacheriah Vesterby was located and arrested by the Barstow Police Department. Zacheriah Vesterby was subsequently booked at the S.B.S.O. Barstow Jail for PC 215 (Carjacking) and PC 246 (Shooting at an inhabited dwelling). Officers also learned Vesterby was on parole for PC 29800(a) Felon in Possession of a Firearm and he was also booked for violating the terms of his parole.

 

On Friday, November 21, 2014, at approximately 10:34 p.m., Barstow Police Officers responded to a shooting and robbery in the area of S. Sixth Ave. and E. Main Street in Barstow, CA. The victim is identified as a 26 year old male from Barstow.  The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his stomach area, and was airlifted to a trauma center.  This case is currently being investigated as an attempt murder / robbery by the Barstow Police Department Detective Division. It is also believed that Zacheriah Vesterby is involved in this incident, although at this time he has not been charged and is only a “person of interest”. The victim is recovering and is expected to survive.
