On November 20, 2014, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Officer Silva was dispatched to Barstow Community Hospital reference a battery. Officer Silva made contact with the victim and a witness, who indicated the victim, was beaten with a firearm in the area of Sunset Street and Opal Avenue.
Four suspects approached the victim and witness in two different vehicles and then on foot. Joshua Perez and an unidentified male suspect pointed pistols at the victim prior to engaging him in a physical confrontation. During the physical confrontation one of the suspects struck the victim several times with his fists while another suspect struck him with a pistol. Jesse Roman and Gabriel Lopez approached the victim and witness, with the other suspects, surrounding the victim and witness and preventing their escape just prior to the assault.
The victim received injuries to his head, face and shoulder as a result of this assault. The victim’s injuries required him to be admitted to Barstow Community Hospital for treatment.
Barstow Police officers served search warrants at the residences associated with the identified suspects. During the search of the residences, evidence linking the suspects to the above incident was located and collected. Jesse Roman was arrested for the above charges and was booked into the San Bernardino County jail.
On Friday, November 21, 2014 at approximately 4:43 p.m., as the result of additional follow-up investigation, Gabriel Lopez was located and arrested for the listed charges. He was also booked into the San Bernardino County Jail in Barstow.
Joshua Perez is still outstanding and should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to notify the Barstow Police Department.
