VICTIM: Stater Bros. Market, 957 Armory Rd., Barstow, CA

On Tuesday, October 07, 2014, at approximately 7:02 p.m., the Barstow Police Department received a telephone call from an employee of Stater Bros. Market located at 957 Armory Road, in Barstow, CA, regarding the theft of merchandise from the business. The employee reported a Hispanic male adult entered the business, placed items in a basket, and left the business with the merchandise and without paying for the items.
An employee from the business followed the subject to a waiting vehicle and as the subject began to enter the vehicle he threatened the employee with a bottle. The employee was not injured and was able to provide a description of the suspect as well as a description of the vehicle the suspect fled the location in to Officer Lewis.
Through further investigation, Officer Lewis was able to identify a possible suspect and vehicle. The possible suspect was also identified through a photo line-up.
Officers made several attempts to locate the suspect and vehicle although they were unsuccessful. On Tuesday, November 18, 2014 with the help of Corporal Jarell Gilmore, Officer Lewis and additional officers went to an address he obtained from Corporal Gilmore for the possible suspect in the 34000 block of Birch Road in the Grandview area. At that location Officer Lewis located the suspect vehicle and a person matching the description of the suspect and the person identified in the photo line-up. The subject was identified as Estrada and denied involvement in the robbery, although additional evidence was obtained and Estrada was arrested. During the contact with Estrada he was also found to have two outstanding misdemeanor warrants that he was also arrested for.
