SYNOPSIS:

On November 12 2014, at approximately 1530 hours, BPD Officers responded to a report of a female screaming in the 700 block of South First Avenue.  Officers located the victim, a 13 year old female, who reported that her mother’s live-in boyfriend, Nathan Howat had beaten her with a belt and choked her. During the on scene investigation the victim told officers that Howat had also touched her genital area several times in the past.  The Barstow Police Department Detective Division was notified and Detective Libby responded to assume the investigation.

Officers detained Nathan Howat at the scene. Upon conducting further investigation detectives substantiated the victim’s allegations. Nathan Howat was subsequently booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for the listed charge.
