On Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at approximately 2:20 a.m. the Barstow Police/Fire Dispatch center received a call from a male subject reporting his brother had just been stabbed at an address in the 500 block of W. Buena Vista St. in the City of Barstow. The R/P described the suspect as the victim’s ex-girlfriend, Shasta Ledbetter. The R/P also reported the suspect fled on foot going E/B on Buena Vista St.


Officers responded to the location and located the victim in the front yard of the residence with a stab wound to his chest area. Paramedics from the Barstow Fire Protection District also responded to the scene to treat the victim. Officers learned the victim’s current girlfriend, who was present when the victim and suspect were arguing and the suspect stabbed the victim, had a physical altercation with the suspect prior to the suspect fleeing the area. Officers located the knife used to stab the victim in the front yard area of the residence and also learned the suspect had slashed at least one tire on the new girlfriends vehicle.


Officers conducted a search of the area for the suspect and evidentially located her at a residence in the 100 block of East Fredricks St. The suspect, Ledbetter, had sustained injuries to her head and face as a result of the physical altercation with the victim’s new girlfriend and was taken to Barstow Community Hospital where she was treated and released.


The victim was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for additional treatment and was reported to be in stable condition. The Suspect, Ledbetter, was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for PC 664/187(a) Attempt Homicide.




On Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at approximately 10:45 p.m. Corporal Daniel Arthur of the Barstow Police Department was flagged-down by a citizen in reference to a possible drunk driver. Cpl. Arthur located the vehicle described by the citizen in the 1500 block of West Main Street in the City of Barstow and conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle. Cpl. Arthur made contact with the driver, Michael Cook (DOB 05/22/1957), and determined that Cook’s driving ability was impaired due to his consumption of alcoholic beverages.


Cook was taken into custody for CVC23152(a/b) Driving Under the Influence. Cook was also found to have an arrest warrant for the same offense out of Los Angeles County. Cook’s vehicle was towed and stored from the scene of the traffic stop and arrest, and Cook was transported to the Barstow Police Department for processing. While on the way to the police department Cook became agitated and began threatening Cpl. Arthur. Cook also tried to break out a window on the patrol unit by kicking the window with his feet.


While placing Cook into a holding cell at the police department he continued to threaten officers and physically attacked one officer causing injuries to the officer.


Cook was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for the warrant out of Los Angeles County and for the new charges of CVC23152(a/b) Driving Under the Influence and PC 69 – Assault on a Police Officer.

CLEOPHUS GLEE         DOB: 09/08/1992


On Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at approximately 3:10 p.m. the Barstow Police/Fire Dispatch Center received a call from a female stating that her ex-boyfriend had just forced his way into the apartment where she was staying with her children and took the two children. The R/P reported the suspect, Cleophus Glee (DOB 09/08/1992) was walking north on Barstow Rd. from the 200 block of East Grace St. with the two small children.


Officers located Glee and the children walking in the 700 block of East Virginia Way. The children were not harmed and both Glee and the children were taken back to the R/P’s residence to determine if a crime had occurred.


Officers determined that Glee did not live at the same location with the victim and the children, and that he did in fact force his way into the residence. While inside the residence, Glee threatened the victim if she tried to stop him from taking the children and also shoved the victim against a wall inside the residence. Officers were also able to determine that Glee was the father of both of the children and no child abduction had occurred.


Glee was arrested for PC422 – Criminal Threats and PC243(e)(1) Domestic Battery. He was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Jail in Barstow.


MARTEZ LAMAR WILLIAMS          DOB: 11/20/1988


On Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at approximately 4:29 a.m. the Barstow Police/Fire Dispatch Center received a call from a truck driver who had stopped at a business in the 2900 block of Lenwood Road while passing through Barstow. The R/P said he had a passenger in his truck who had been travelling with the R/P from Mississippi and was drinking an alcoholic beverage and was believed to be intoxicated. The R/P said he does not allow anyone to drink alcohol in his truck and he asked the subject to get out of the truck and the subject refused.


Officers arrived at the location and contacted the subject inside the R/P’s truck, who was identified as Martez Williams. The officers had Williams step out of the vehicle so they could speak with him about the R/P’s claims. The officers determined that Williams had in fact been drinking alcoholic beverages and was unable to care for his own safety. Williams was placed under arrest for PC647(f) Public Intoxication.


Williams became combative with the officers and began threatening to kill the R/P who was standing in the area. When the officers tried to place Williams in the rear of a patrol unit he resisted and refused to sit in the unit. The officers were able to finally get Williams into the unit, although during the incident he kicked at the officers causing injuries to an officers chin and facial area.


Williams was booked for PC422 – Criminal Threats and PC69 – Assault on a Police Officer. He was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s jail in Barstow.
