SUMMARY:

On Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at approximately 12:45 p.m. the Barstow Police Dispatch Center received a call from a citizen in the parking lot of the Cora Harper Community Center at 841 Barstow Road, Barstow, CA. The citizen reported that while they were at the location picking-up their 3-year old son from the school bus stop, a male adult subject wearing camouflaged pants and a black sweater exposed and grabbed his genitals in front of the reporting party and the 3-year old child.

The reporting party continued to watch the suspect and report the suspect’s location to responding officers. Officers contacted a male subject identified as Alexander Herrera on Barstow Road near East Virginia Way. The victim identified Herrera to officers as the same subject that exposed and grabbed his genitals in the parking lot of the community center.

Officers arrested Herrera for the original charge of PC 647.6(a) and also learned that Herrera had multiple warrants for his arrest. The warrants included charges of Public Intoxication, Trespassing, and Soliciting Alms (Begging). Herrera was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Jail for the listed charges.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information about this incident is asked to notify Officer Arias by calling the Barstow Police and Fire Dispatch Center at (760)256-2211. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call We-Tip at (800)78-CRIME.
