On October 4, 2015, at approximately 10:27 A.M., Barstow Community Hospital personnel called the Barstow Police Department and reported they were treating a male subject with a stab wound to his chest. Officers responded to the hospital and identified the stabbing victim as Jesus Goytia Jr. Goytia Jr. sustained a stab wound to his chest and a stab wound to his back.
The investigation revealed that on Saturday, October 3, 2015, Goytia Jr. had been at his neighbor’s birthday party in the 500 block of Arville Street in Barstow. Goytia Jr. accompanied his neighbor and Sean Lancaster to “Hooz on First” bar on North First Street to continue the birthday celebration. While at the bar, Goytia Jr. got into a verbal argument with Sean Lancaster. The three men, Goytia Jr., Lancaster, and the neighbor who was celebrating his birthday, left the bar together and returned to the home on Arville Street where Lancaster was staying.
Witnesses reported that Goytia Jr. and Lancaster continued the argument at the residence and during the argument Lancaster physically fought with Goytia Jr. Investigators located suspected blood drops and blood stains in the area where Lancaster and Goytia Jr. fought. After the argument and fight Goytia Jr. walked to his residence, which is located in the immediate area from where the argument and fight occurred, and collapsed.
Goytia Jr. did not discover the stab wounds until Sunday morning and immediately called for medical assistance. Paramedics responded and transported Goytia Jr. to Barstow Community Hospital where he was treated for the stab wounds and released.
On Sunday, October 4, 2015, at approximately 2:12 P.M., Sean Lancaster was located in the 500 block of Arville Street and was placed under arrest for the stabbing. The knife used in the stabbing has not been located.
On Sunday, October 4, 2015, at approximately 9:30 P.M., Lancaster was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for PC 664/187(a) - Attempted Murder.
