On May 23, 2016, at approximately 3:37 P.M., the Barstow Police Department Dispatch Center received a call of a vehicle versus a pedestrian traffic collision in the 1200 block of East Main Street. Officers responded to the scene and upon arrival found the victim, later identified as Stanley Lafitte, down in the roadway. The suspect vehicle was not on scene. Witnesses to the collision described the suspect vehicle as a gold Honda Accord which was occupied by three white male adults.
Witnesses stated that the driver of the Honda Accord stopped momentarily after the collision and then fled the scene driving eastbound on East Main Street.
Another witness to the collision was able to provide a license plate for the Honda Accord.
A records check revealed the address for the Honda Accord was listed at 200 North Yucca Avenue. Officers responded to the listed address and found the vehicle parked on the west side of the property at 200 North Yucca Avenue. The vehicle had damage consistent with being involved in a traffic collision.
Officers contacted Jesse Stratton at his listed address and through their investigation, were able to positively identify him as the driver of the Honda Accord that struck the pedestrian.
Jesse Stratton was placed under arrest for VC 20001 - Felony Hit and Run.
Stratton was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Jail in Barstow.
Lafitte suffered moderate injuries as a result of the collision and was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, CA.
