On June 29, 2016, at approximately 2:47 P.M., the Barstow Police Department Dispatch Center received a call from an employee at the Ralph Lauren Polo store in the Tanger Outlet Mall who reported that store employees recognized two Hispanic males in their store who had stolen items on a previous occasion.
Officers began responding to the area to search for the suspects. As they did witnesses reported that the two suspects had entered a vehicle and provided the license plate for the suspect’s vehicle. As officers began checking for the suspect’s, Sunglass Hut reported to Barstow Police Dispatch that the same suspects had just stolen merchandise from their business. Officers located the vehicle just north of the Tanger Mall and contacted the suspects. The two Hispanic males were identified as Inostroza and Dotes.
During this time additional calls were received from Calvin Klein and Guess Outlet stores reporting that Inostroza and Dotes had stolen property from their stores. An in-field show-up was conducted by the officers and both Inostroza and Dotes were positively identified as the subjects who had stolen multiple items from the above stores. The total loss reported from all of the stores was estimated to be $1,500.00.
A search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed several items of stolen clothing from each of the above stores. Additionally, officers located a “booster bag” which is used to defeat the security devices on the clothing.
Both Inostroza and Dotes were arrested and transported to the Barstow Police Department.
Officer recovered all of the stolen property from the suspect’s vehicle and returned it to the victims.
Both Inostroza and Dotes were booked at the San Bernardino County Jail in Barstow, CA, for PC 459- Commercial Burglary and PC 487- Grand Theft.
