SUSPECTS:                     Unknown BMA, 20-29 Years Old, Skinny Build

CASE AGENT:                  Officer Matthew Helms

On September 12, 2016, at approximately 7:45 P.M., Officer Helms was dispatched to the lobby of the Barstow Police Department regarding an attempted kidnapping that occurred at the Sportspark in the 2800 Block of Mayor Katy Parkway. The victim, a 9-year-old child, reported that a Black male adult attempted to take her from the park against her will. The victim reported that the male approached her, grabbed her and began pulling her. The victim yelled at the suspect to let her go but he continued to pull her. The victim began to scream for help and an unknown teenage girl intervened in the incident. The victim was able to kick the suspect, get free from his grasp, and run away. The suspect then fled west through the park and out of sight.

The victim ran out of the park and eventually contacted her parents who brought her to the police department to report the incident.  The victim did not suffer any injuries as a result of the incident.

After receiving the report, officers responded to the area of the Sportspark and conducted a search for the suspect, however, they did not locate him.

The suspect is described as a Black male adult in his 20’s with a skinny build and a beard. The suspect was wearing a blue shirt with white lettering that read “bitch#”, blue baggy ripped jeans, a black hat, and a red bandana on his head.

The Barstow Police Department Detective Division is investigating the incident. Officers are conducting directed patrols of the Sportspark and schools within the Barstow Unified School District.
