On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at approximately 8:36 PM, the Barstow Police Department received a 911 call from a subject in the 1600 block of Church Street indicating he had a gun and was going to kill himself along with anyone who tried to stop him.
Officers responded to the residence to conduct a welfare check on the subject. Responding officers observed the subject walk out of a residence and into the front yard with a gun in his waistband. After approximately 4 hours of negotiations between the subject and negotiators, the subject exited the residence and was taken into custody, without incident.
A search warrant was obtained and a search of the residence was conducted. Evidence linking the subject to a weapon was located during this search. Additional investigation revealed the subject was a convicted felon.
