On January 27, 2017, at approximately 9:59 AM, the victim’s mother came to the Barstow Police Department to report that her 15-year-old daughter was the victim of a sexual assault.
Officers interviewed the victim and she reported that she had met an adult male through a bowling league in which she is a member. She told officers that she has known the male for approximately six months. The victim told officers that she invited the adult male to her residence in January 2017.
The victim reported that while they were at her residence she had sexual intercourse with the adult male. The victim was able to identify the male by name and provided that information to the officers.
The Barstow Police Department’s Detective Division assumed the investigation and Detective Leo Griego began investigating the incident. Detective Griego’ investigation revealed further evidence corroborating the victim’s statement. Detective Griego also showed the victim a photographic line-up with the victim and she positively identified Francisco Briceno, Jr., as the suspect.
Barstow Police Department Evidence Technicians responded to the scene and collected further evidence related to this investigation.
On January 27, 2017, Detective Griego contacted Briceno in the 13000 block of Princeton Drive in Victorville, CA and placed him under arrest. Detectives conducted an interview with Briceno regarding this investigation.
Briceno was booked at the San Bernardino County Jail in Barstow for the listed charges.
