CASE AGENT: Officer Andrew Buesa
On June 20, 2017, at approximately 4:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 Block of Nancy Street regarding a burglary in progress. The caller advised that she and her husband just returned to their residence and discovered that someone had burglarized their home. The caller advised that her husband was inside the residence and she believed that a suspect was still inside with him because she could hear an argument.
Officers arrived at the location and observed the male victim at the front door. The victim reported that an unknown male adult was still inside his residence and he was attempting to stall him until the police arrived. As officers approached the front door, the male adult suspect fled out of the rear door of the residence.
Officer Buesa pursued the suspect and apprehended him in the alley behind the 600 block of Nancy Street.
Officers identified the suspect as Edward Breedlove. The residence was checked for additional suspects but no other suspects were located.
Officer Buesa conducted an in-field show-up and the victim positively identified Edward Breedlove as the person who entered his residence when he returned home.
Further investigation revealed that the victim and his wife had been gone for approximately one hour when they returned home to find their television and X-Box console stolen from their home. As the victim began to check the rest of his residence, he observed Breedlove enter his home through the rear door.
The victim confronted Breedlove and questioned him about being in his home. Breedlove then fled from the residence.
Officers conducted a records search of Breedlove and learned that he had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest for Probation Violation.
Officer Buesa placed Breedlove under arrest and transported him to the Barstow Police Department. Officers searched for the victim’s stolen property but did not locate it.
Breedlove was subsequently booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for Penal Code 459- Residential Burglary and Penal Code 3455- Probation Violation.
