Marijuana, currency, and scale seized during search of Martinez’s residence
On August 24, 2017 at approximately 6:15 P.M., members of the Barstow Police Department’s Gang and Violent Crime Suppression Team and Special Response Team, served a search warrant at a residence in the 600 Block of Candlelight Street in the City of Barstow. This warrant was part of an ongoing investigation reference the sale of illegal narcotics.
Officers arrived at the residence and located the homeowner, Joshua Martinez in the front yard with several females. Martinez was detained and officers made contact inside the residence with the sole female occupant identified as Caprice Handy. The warrant was executed and a search of the residence was conducted. As a result, officers located several thousand dollars in cash, a large amount of Marijuana, and other evidence indicative of the sales of Marijuana.
A records check of Martinez and Handy through police dispatch revealed that Handy had several outstanding warrants for her arrest. Martinez and Handy were both arrested and transported to the Barstow Police Department for further questioning. Martinez was booked at the San Bernardino County Jail in Barstow for being in violation of Health and Safety Code section 11359 – Possession of Marijuana for Sale. Handy was booked at the San Bernardino County Jail in Barstow for the outstanding warrants.
