CASE AGENT:                                Officer Andrew Reyes

SUSPECT:                                       Bryce Martinez, 28-Year-Old, Barstow Resident

SUMMARY:

On Tuesday, October 03, 2017, at approximately 1:39 p.m., a representative from the Barstow Little League Association came to the lobby of the Barstow Police Department to report a possible embezzlement incident occurring within their organization.

Officer Andrew Reyes responded to the location to conduct the investigation. The board member reported that as the newly appointed board reviewed the financial reports for the organization they discovered several unauthorized point of sale purchases for goods and services. The board also discovered that several unauthorized cash withdraws had been made from their account. Upon further review of the transactions, the board suspected that former Barstow Little League President Bryce Martinez embezzled several thousand dollars from the little league account.

Officer Reyes interviewed several witnesses and reviewed the bank and purchase transaction records for Barstow Little League. The investigation revealed that former Barstow Little League President Bryce Martinez made numerous unauthorized purchases and withdrawals from the little league account for his own personal use. The unauthorized withdraws and transactions that he made totaled approximately $10,000 dollars. The current board reported approximately $20,000 of little league funds still cannot be accounted for.

On December 22, 2017, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Martinez came to the Barstow Police Department to speak with Officer Reyes regarding the investigation. Officer Reyes placed Martinez under arrest for the listed charges.

Bryce Martinez was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Barstow Jail for PC 487(a)-Grand Theft, PC 503- Embezzlement, and PC 459- Burglary.
