SUSPECT:    Bernard Graham, BMA, 23-Year-Old

On Saturday, January 06, 2018, at approximately 10:38 A.M., Barstow Police Corporal Angel Nevarez responded to a report of a subject trespassing in front of the 99 Cents Only Store located 1308 East Main Street. Corporal Nevarez was contacted by a store employee who told him Bernard Graham was trespassing in the business and has been told numerous times he is not allowed in the business. The employee also told Corporal Nevarez that she wanted Graham arrested for trespassing.

Corporal Nevarez located Graham on the 1200 block of East Main Street. As Corporal Nevarez approached Graham he saw that Graham was carrying a green metal military ammo can. Corporal Nevarez contacted Graham and advised him that he was under arrest for trespassing at the business. Graham suddenly advanced toward Corporal Nevarez and threw the ammo can at him striking him in the upper body. Graham then began punching Corporal Nevarez with his fists. Corporal Nevarez deployed his police Taser at Graham but it was ineffective. After assaulting the officer. Graham fled from the area and ran toward the apartment complex located to the rear of Vons. Several officers responded to the area and conducted a search for Graham at the apartment complex located at 550 South Yucca Avenue.

Officer Zepeda arrived on scene and deployed his police K-9 Logan to search for Graham. K-9 Logan located Graham hiding under a stairwell in the apartment complex and apprehended him. Officers placed Graham under arrest and transported him to the Barstow Police Department.

Corporal Nevarez sustain minor injuries from the incident.

Graham was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Barstow Jail for PC 69- Assault on a Police Officer and PC 245(c) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer.
