On 01-06-17 at approximately 9:22 P.M., Officers were dispatched to Barstow Community Hospital regarding a gunshot victim. The reporting party told officers that Timothy Pettiway arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his left hand and reported he shot himself.

As a result, Officer Buesa learned that Pettiway was at his girlfriend’s residence in the 500 Block of South Muriel Drive, cleaning a firearm. Barstow Police Detectives arrived at the scene to assist with the investigation.  Officers collected the firearm and booked it into evidence at the Barstow Police Department.

Detective Arias conducted further investigation and confirmed that Pettiway is a convicted felon, and prohibited from possessing any firearms.

After Barstow Community Hospital medical staff treated and released Pettiway for his injuries, Detective Arias placed him under arrest and transported him to the Barstow Police Department.
