SUSPECTS:                   Luntrell Delewis Rucker, BMA, 29-Years-Old, Barstow Resident

CASE AGENT:               Officer Matthew Helms

On January 22, 2018, at approximately 2:56 A.M., officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 500 Block of East Virginia Way regarding a domestic disturbance. The caller told dispatch that his friend called him and told him her boyfriend who lives at the residence was beating her up.  The caller further advised dispatch that there are two small children and a handgun inside the residence.

At approximately 3:00 A.M., officers arrived at the location. As officers approached and knocked on the door, a male, later identified as Luntrell Rucker, answered the door. Officers entered the property and immediately saw a loaded handgun and a ballistic vest next to Rucker. Officers retrieved the weapon, made it safe, and detained Rucker.

Officers confirmed that Rucker lived at the residence. While speaking with Rucker, officers saw that he had a scratch above his eye. Rucker told officers that he was in a physical altercation with his girlfriend’s friend who just left the apartment. Rucker told officers that his girlfriend was inside the bathroom.

Officers contacted Rucker’s girlfriend in the bathroom and saw that she had a bloody lip and a swollen left eye. The female reported that she was home speaking on the phone with a male friend when Rucker arrived at the residence. She stated that Rucker heard her talking on the phone with the other man and became angry and began physically assaulting her.

During the assault, Rucker punched the victim several times and slammed her body on top of the victim’s 5-month-old baby. When officers knocked on the door of the residence, Rucker demanded that the female go to the bathroom.

While investigating the incident, officers noticed various illegal narcotics throughout the residence, a digital scale, baggies and a sum of U.S. Currency in various denominations.

Officers conducted a criminal history check of Rucker and learned that he is a felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm or a ballistic vest.

Rucker was arrested and transported to the Barstow Police Department for further questioning.

Barstow Fire Protection District responded to the location and provided medical attention to the victim and her children.

Rucker was subsequently booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for Penal Code 273.5(a) - Domestic Violence, Penal Code 29800(a) (1) - Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Penal Code 31360 (a) - Felon in Possession of Body Armor, Health &Safety Code 11351- Sales of controlled substance.
