SYNOPSIS:             On Sunday, February 23, 2014 at approximately 2:56 p.m., the Barstow Dispatch Center received a call of gunshots in the area of the 1500 block of Piute Street in the City of Barstow. Responding officers learned that an argument between subjects at a residence in the area had resulted in one subject retrieving a handgun from a residence and firing several shots at two additional subjects. Neither of the two victims was struck by the gunfire, although a vehicle was hit several times.

Responding officers detained everyone at the scene and determined that Stephens was the actual shooter. Stephens was taken into custody while the remaining subjects were interviewed. During the initial investigation, the firearm used in the shooting was recovered, as well as additional evidence from the scene.

The Barstow Police Department Detective Division was notified and assumed the investigation. Stephens was subsequently booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Jail for the listed charges.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Andrew Reyes at (760)255-5183.  Callers who wish to remain anonymous may contact the WE Tip Hotline at (800)78-CRIME.
