Albert Ramirez Jr. 

 

Chief Albert Ramirez Jr. began his law enforcement career in 1991 with the Barstow Police Department. Before becoming a police officer, he was honorably discharged from the United States Army where he served as an Army Ranger in the 2nd Ranger Battalion.

In 1991, Chief Ramirez graduated from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department 103rd Basic Academy Session. After graduating from the academy, Chief Ramirez worked as a patrol officer. He was later selected to start the School Resource Officer program at the Barstow Police Department.

During his career, Chief Ramirez has held a number of positions within the department including; Patrolman, Canine Handler, School Resource Officer, Detective, Watch Commander, Special Response Team (SRT) Operator, Special Response Team Commander, Patrol Division Commander, and Administrative Division Commander. Chief Ramirez promoted through the ranks ultimately achieving the top position of Chief of Police.

Chief Ramirez is a recipient of Barstow Police Department’s Medal of Valor, the highest achievement award given for a truly courageous act to protect another or an act that exemplifies true bravery. Chief Ramirez is also a recipient of the California Peace Officers Association Award of Valor.

 

 Andrew Espinoza

Captain Andrew Espinoza Jr. began his law enforcement career in 1999 with the Barstow Police Department. He attended the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department 135th Academy Session and upon graduation worked as a patrol officer.

During his career, Captain Espinoza has worked a variety of assignments in the department including; Patrol Officer,  Crime Impact Detective, Major Crimes Detective, Watch Commander, Range Master, Special Response Team (SRT) Operator, Special Response Team Commander, Patrol Division Commander, and Administrative Division Commander.

Captain Espinoza has an Associate’s Degree in Social Science from Barstow Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach.

Captain Espinoza is a recipient of Barstow Police Department’s Life Saving Medal, granted for extraordinary action to save the life of another.
