The department’s K-9 Unit is assigned to Patrol Division. The K-9 Teams receive an extensive amount of training in patrol tactics, tracking, building searches, article searches, master protection and drug detection. Once certified, the K-9 team receives on-going training and is required to pass a yearly certification by the State of California Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.
